Michael Powell

Michael Powell is the Director of Strategic Communications at White Mountain Research. 

Michael was previously the Director of Development at Mercury One — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Dallas, Texas — committed to taking action through humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and education initiatives. As the principal fundraiser for the organization, he was responsible for the organization’s donor development and management strategy.

From November 2016 through his tenure at Mercury One, Michael also served as the Director of Operations for The Nazarene Fund — Mercury One’s global initiative to rescue, rebuild and restore the lives of persecuted and displaced Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East affected by the ISIS war. Under his management, The Nazarene Fund operated over 100 projects around the world including: providing humanitarian aid to over 35,000 refugees fleeing the battles of Fallujah and Mosul, providing housing for over 5,400 displaced people, processing and evacuating over 5000 people to new host countries, and the rescue of 90 ISIS captives.

Previously Michael was a Vice President at BX Worldwide and an Executive Vice President at ISB Global Advisors (a division of ISB Global, LLC). He was Director of Member Networks at Young Presidents’ Organization and Marketing Manager for the Inventory of Skills Foundation. Michael was the founding Music Editor at The Fort Worth Weekly, and a nationally published music and pop culture journalist. He was an intern to U.S. Representative Martin Frost, served as an Infantryman and an Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and has held positions on several advisory boards.Michael received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science at the University of Texas at Arlington.
